Malachai, our Great Pyreneese Livestock Guardian Dog. Here he is about 8 weeks old.
Welcome to Shantara Acres Farm Website!  We're a very small farm located between Brookneal and Charlotte Court House in south central Virginia.  We adopted a fixer-upper farm and live here with our five horses, 11 goats (except during kidding season when we have quite a few more), an assortment of chickens, two or three dogs, (depending on the day, we've got one who doesn't know if he lives here or across the street, LOL) 4 barn cats, and a mouse or two.

Our main farm product is goats milk soap that we make here on the farm and sell nationwide as well as locally at farmers markets, festivals, and other events.  Check us out on facebook for places we'll be.  Find us on facebook under "Shantara's Soaps".

Kidding season starts this year in Feb. with Michael being the first due on Feb.3rd, 2012.  Check back frequently for updates and don't forget to check out our soap store, after all, that's what it's all about!

"Pack goats, wethers, wethered goat"
This is Finland, our wether. Wether's make GREAT companions and pets and will walk with you off lead better than a dog! Reserve your new hiking companions now!
Fall Breedings!  Reserve your 2012 kid now! (requires $50 deposit) All births are attended and kids are bottlefed using goats milk from our CAE tested negative herd. (tested using bio-tracking)

We have CAE negative tests for the herd on hand from spring, 2011 for you to see.  If you would like to retest before buying, or test a young doeling before you take her home, we would be happy to help you with that.

Junior Does
Cherry Blossom:  FF, bred to Hans on Dec. 31st, due May 30th. Reserved kids are $200 (price may go up on non-reserved kids after they are born).
Ginger: FF (not yet bred) kids: $200

All kids may be picked up within two weeks of birth.  If you would prefer to pick up earlier, let me know and I will work with you on that.  I absolutely will NOT hold kids past the date a buyer states that they will pick up. If a kid is not picked up by the agreed-upon pick up date, the kid will be offered to another buyer.

Bucks will only be available out of junior does with exceptional mammaries.  All buck kids picked up by one week of age will be $50 again this year. I will give you all the info to register them, or I can do it for an additional $17, (or whatever the buck registration fee is this year). Wethered pack goats will again be available. ALL bucks will be wethered at 6 weeks old, so make sure you reserve yours now for a great buck at a super-low price.

All kids here are pulled at birth and bottle raised on un-heat treated goats milk or pasturized cow milk.  If reserved, I will start your kid on heat-treated colostrum and pasturized goats milk if desired.  (We have been CAE-free from the beginning) They will get free choice hay, grain, water and minerals from birth until they leave the farm. They will be disbudded, tattooed and extremely well socialized.
